| Wendy McBride Excellence Award for Accreditation Reviewer | | | | Dr. Lan Gien’s many years of relentless contribution as an outstanding scholar has benefitted CASN greatly. She has brought excellence, expertise to the process of accreditation commensurate with her experience as a leader in nursing education as well as in research.Lan has been tirelessly involved during the last 17 years in various positions of the CASN Accreditation process. As a member of the former CAUSN Board of Accreditation (now Bureau of Accreditation) for two three year terms, she took part in reviewing accreditation reports and rendered decisions on accreditation of nursing programs. During this time, she served as the Chair of the Board of Accreditation for one year, has been a member of the Accreditation Think Tank and the Task Force on Accreditation twice. The latter group reviewed, revised the Accreditation program, published the Accreditation monograph and its accompanying manual (1995 & 2005) which are currently used for accrediting baccalaureate programs in nursing across Canada. The task force also formulated and revised the evaluation tool/questionnaire to evaluate the Accreditation process. She has also participated in workshops to orientate new accreditation reviewers as well as published many refereed articles on the subject of accreditation. Also, as a member as well as leader of numerous review teams, she has conducted on-site visits of programs under review, provided very much appreciated guidance for new and less experienced reviewers and assisted the teams during the process of writing the reports. | | |
