The first-ever CASN Clinical Instructor Workshop is very well-received by nurse educators!

On March 1st, nurse educators from across the country met in Toronto, Ontario for the first-ever CASN Clinical Instructor Workshop!

With more than 70 participants in attendance, nurse educators learned and engaged in dialogue about the roles and responsibilities of the nursing clinical instructor (CI). Further discussion and instruction examined strategies specific to monitoring, mentoring, coaching, and evaluating students, as well as common challenges experienced by the CI and solutions.

The Workshop was instructed and facilitated by Jeanette Suurdt, RN, NP, MSc, a highly qualified and well-respected nurse educator and clinician, who has over 12 years of experience in nursing education as a clinical instructor in acute care, in labs, and in the classroom. Jeanette’s viewpoints on nursing clinical instruction were dynamic and stimulated a lot of rich discussion throughout the day.

The Workshop was very well-received by participants, and CASN is pleased to announce that it will be offered again in the near future! Please stay tuned for additional information to come this Spring/Summer.
