CASN is pleased to announce the publication of the revised National Nursing Education Framework (Framework). The revised Framework includes the domains of Knowledge, Research Skills and Critical Inquiry, Nursing Practice, Communication and Collaboration, Professionalism and Leadership. The purpose of the Framework is to guide the development and revision of nursing curricula, to inform submission when applying for CASN accreditation, and to demonstrate the scope of nursing. In support of the revision, a bilingual, national Project Team reviewed the literature, reviewed international frameworks, interviewed students, interviewed health care executives and provincial nursing officers, and reviewed government documents. While many outcomes from the original Framework remain germane, the revised Framework includes indicators related to the Truth and Reconciliation Calls to Action, advocating for health, equity, and social justice, being anti-racist, virtual and digital care, genomics, and end-of-life care.
We would like to thank all the people who worked diligently to develop this foundational CASN nursing education document.
