KEYNOTE SPEAKERS

Lea Bill BscN RN is a Cree nurse from Pelican First Nations who is currently practicing as a Community Health Nurse in Alberta. Lea has been leading people in native spiritual discovery processes for 20 years by teaching the beauty and the wisdom of indigenous technology specifically the use and application of the medicine wheel and the importance of traditional knowledge application and consideration within the health field. She is a traditional nurse practitioner that has committed many years of nursing service to individual, families and communities.  She is also a past president of A.N.A.C.

Dr. Danièle Behn Smith is Eh Cho Dene from Fort Nelson First Nation on her father’s side and French Canadian/Métis from the Red River Valley on her mother’s side. She is a family physician who had the remarkable opportunity to travel around the world and learn about traditional medicine from Elders and medicine people as part of a documentary series entitled Medicine Woman. She is honoured and privileged to incorporate Indigenous approaches to health and healing into her personal and professional life.
