The Canadian Institute of Health Research (CIHR) Indigenous Research Chairs in Nursing are co-designing and co-delivering a five-part workshop series to support anti-racist and decolonial practices in nursing education as a collective response to implementing the Truth and Reconciliation Commission Calls to Action.
The first three workshops focus on Indigenous specific racism, cultural humility, and cultural safety, exploring how educators play a crucial role in developing culturally safe practitioners. The final two workshops present case studies with exemplary approaches for responding to Calls to Action 23 and 24 in nursing education.
The series will cover the following topics:

Requirements
Participation in the monthly, live virtual workshops is required. As the workshop series is offered free of charge, individuals are asked to register for a spot only if they plan to attend all of the workshops. An additional workshop series will be held in the fall of 2023.
Learning Outcomes
The purpose of the workshop series is to encourage critical reflexive thinking and inspire action by participants. The 2-hour, monthly sessions provide information, lived experiences and resources/references to support teaching and learning.
