Speakers

Opening Speaker – Nancy Edwards, RN, PhD, University of Ottawa
Nancy Edwards is a Distinguished Professor, University of Ottawa, and Full Professor in the School of Nursing, with a cross-appointment to the Department of Epidemiology and Community Medicine. She is a Principal Scientist with the Institute of Population Health; and Senior Scientist, Élisabeth Bruyère Research Institute. Nancy was the inaugural Director of the Population Health PhD Program at the University of Ottawa.

Keynote Speaker – Margaret B. Harrison, RN, PhD, Queen’s University
As founder member of an innovative practice-research partnership, Practice and Research in Nursing (PRN) at Queen’s, that aims to improve patient outcomes through evidence-based care, this Senior Scientist at Queen’s University is a recognized expert who has been called upon to work with international and national organizations including the Joanna Briggs Institute, ADAPTE international, Canadian Cancer Partnership and the Canadian Stroke Network.

Closing Speaker – Ian Graham, PhD, University of Ottawa
Dr. Ian Graham is an Associate Professor in the School of Nursing, University of Ottawa and Senior Scientist in the Clinical Epidemiology Program of the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute. From 2006-2012 he was on an interchange with the Canadian Institutes of Health Research where he held the position of Vice-President of Knowledge Translation and Public Outreach. Dr. Graham obtained a Ph.D. in medical sociology from McGill University.

His research focuses on knowledge translation (the process of research use) and conducting applied research on strategies to increase implementation of evidence-informed practice. He has published over 200 peer reviewed articles and is co-editor of Knowledge Translation in Health Care (2009) and Evaluating the Impact of Implementing Evidence-based Practice (2010).

One-Day Pre-Conference NCLEX® Workshop
Date: June 24, 2013, 0800hrs – 1600hrs
Registration Fee: $275.00

CASN is offering this one day workshop to all nursing faculty who want to know more about the NCLEX® exam that will be administered in Canada beginning in 2015.

The registration fee includes all workshop documents, breakfast, lunch, and morning and afternoon snacks.

What’s Next? Utilizing Research and Exploring Graduate Studies!

At this session undergraduate students will have the opportunity to explore subject including how to use research in practice and options in graduate school programs. Participants will also have the opportunity to speak with representatives from nursing graduate programs across Canada. As part of the session What’s Next? CASN will be hosting a graduate studies fair, come meet the next generation of registered nurses and inform them on all that your graduate program has to offer! More information and registration forms can be accessed here.
