The UBC Consortium for Nursing History Inquiry will present the following activities to celebrate Black nurses throughout February 2023.

Black History Month 2023: Historical Considerations on Nursing Education across Canada

This event will include three presentations by participants from:
- UBC School of Nursing
- USASK College of Nursing
- UNBJ Department of History & Politics
Join us to learn about a Rockefeller Foundation report written by Ethel Johns (the first director of nursing at UBC) on the status of Black women in the nursing profession in the United States (written in 1925), the entry of Black students to UBC Nursing and UNB School of Nursing, and the ongoing challenge of addressing racism in nursing education and practice in Canada today.

UBC undergraduate nursing students have also created daily content for the month of February related to the history of Black nurses or posts that highlight the work of Black scholars.
